Population

Population in Palisades approximately 25,000.

1971

No Oil!

Oxy Oil fight heats up when No Oil has a set back with a Los Angeles City Council vote.

1974

CA Supreme Court

California Supreme Court precedent decision upholding CEQA in favor of No Oil Inc. and PPPOA.

1974

Palisades Beautiful

Palisades Beautiful established. By 1978 Palisades Beautiful planted 445 trees on more than 20 of our community streets.

1975

Recommendation to City Recreation and Parks Commission

Recommendation to City Recreation and Parks Commission that Potrero Canyon be filled. PPPOA demanded an EIR
be prepared. At that time, PPPOA estimated that it would take 8 years to dump 3 million cubic yards using PCH entrance.
Thirty three years and $40 million plus later the project is still not completed…

1977

Community Plan approved

Brentwood – Pacific Palisades Community Plan approved by Los Angeles City Council

1978

Additional development in the Santa Monica Mountains

Additional development in the Santa Monica Mountains prime issue fought by PPPOA – Developers include American
Mobile Homes and the Highlands group who attempt to exclude their acreage from the purview of the Coastal Commission
via legislation.

1978

980 units built in the Palisades Highlands.

Plans include 2,000 more dwelling units with traffic estimated for
the proposed units between 15,000 and 20,000 additional vehicle trips per day using Bienveneda and Lachman Lane, ending
on Sunset Blvd., Pacific Coast Highway and the Village area.
